I draw the inside of data centres.

General arrangement plans, floor plans, rack layouts and 3D visuals of white space — for teams that are out of drafting capacity.


Who is doing the drawing

Yangline is the studio name of Yang-Lin Digital Marketing Co., Ltd., a registered company in Taiwan. The drawing is done by one person — Colleen Chiu — which is why the rest of this page says "I".

I came to this work from the controls side — building and environmental control systems on live sites, where the job is to represent a real room accurately enough that an operator can act on it. I now work both ends: the 3D model of the space, and the graphic the operators watch it on.

Everything is modelled in SketchUp and rendered in V-Ray. Plans and 3D views come out of the same model, which reduces the risk of a drawing and a visual disagreeing — and everything is checked against the delivery list before it goes out.

Equipment is modelled, not blocked in. Patch panels, breaker faces, rack rails, door hardware — the things that let someone recognise their own kit in a picture of a room that does not exist yet.

Almost every data centre portfolio shows white space only — racks in a rectangle. This one shows the rooms that make the white space work, and the constraint that put them where they are.

Colocation hall, caged suites

Subdividing white space is a commercial problem before it is a technical one: the drawing has to answer who can walk where. Wire mesh, solid partition and aisle containment are three different things at three different heights, and only one of them is a wall.

Study 03

Air-cooled data hall

One open hall, three containment pods. The plan, the axonometric and the rendered views all come out of the same model, so the set stays consistent as the layout changes.

How we work

  1. You send what you have. A marked-up PDF, a survey drawing, a rack schedule, or a photograph of a whiteboard. If something on the input list is missing, I tell you before we start — not halfway through.
  2. You get a fixed quote and a delivery list. What you receive, in which formats, on which date. Nothing begins until that is agreed in writing.
  3. Layout is approved before anything is rendered. You see the general arrangement first. Moving a rack at that stage costs minutes. Moving it after the renders costs days.
  4. Detail, then views. Only the views on the delivery list.
  5. Two revision rounds are included within the agreed scope.
I work from
Your layouts, sketches, point lists, or a written spec. Marked-up PDFs are fine.
Stays with you
The engineering. I draw what your engineers have decided; I don't specify it.
Input list
Room dimensions or a dimensioned plan · rack count, size and orientation · what is fixed (columns, doors, existing plant) and what I may move · which views you need and what they are for · anything carrying a real client name or logo that must not appear.
Deliverables
Rendered stills at 3000 px or larger, general arrangement plans, axonometrics, section views, operator-screen backgrounds. PNG, PDF, DWG / DXF, SKP, OBJ / FBX.
Source files
SKP, DWG / DXF and OBJ / FBX are quoted as a line item. Say at quote stage if you need them — it changes how the model is built, not only what gets sent.
Software
Modelled in SketchUp, rendered in V-Ray. DWG / DXF written to whichever release your CAD needs; tell me the version and I match it.
A revision is
Anything that does not match the information you gave me. If it was my mistake it does not count against your two rounds.
New scope is
A change on your side: racks moved, a room added, an extra view. You get the number before I start it. It never appears on the invoice as a surprise.
When the date starts
The delivery date runs from the day I have everything on the input list. If something arrives late the date moves by the same number of days, and I say so at the time rather than at the end.
Confidentiality
Client work is covered by NDA and is not shown here. I'm happy to sign yours before you send anything.
Payment
50% on acceptance of the quote, 50% on delivery. Bank transfer to the company account; other methods can be agreed at quote stage.
Invoicing
From Yang-Lin Digital Marketing Co., Ltd., Taiwan. Company registration and bank details come with the quote.
Where I am
Remote, GMT+8. Work generally goes out overnight from Europe and the US.

These are starting figures, not a price list. Every job is quoted against your brief as a fixed sum, agreed before anything starts — never by the hour.

What moves the number: how much of the layout is already decided, how many views, whether source files are included, and how fast you need it.
